Mr. Beggs was very entertaining and has a huge wealth of
knowledge in the area, he pointed out some ‘gotchas’ that
I had not considered and based on the reactions from the
audience, I was not the only one. The biggest takeaway
from the session for me was that it led me to change my
approach to assessing risk for IT, by breaking Cyber out
into its own register. The implications and variations are
far beyond a single line in a risk register and, in my humble
opinion, should be treated as a separate process from other
IT threats such as flood, fire, utility outages, etc.
To close out the afternoon, “Bit’s n Bites” - an entertaining
game show-like Q&A session that also provided some
great lessons learned. Vito Mangialardi, Ralph Dunham, and
Des O’Callaghan were the stars of that part of the day’s
festivities, and it was a great way to go into the Easter
long weekend, with a few chuckles and some interesting, if
opposing, points of view about our profession.

couple of great sessions! Ω

M. Beggs a été très divertissant et possède une grande
richesse de connaissances dans ce domaine. Il a mis en
évidence certains problèmes auxquels je n’avais pas pensé
et, d’après les réactions de l’auditoire, je n’étais pas le seul.
Ce que j’ai surtout retenu de cette session, c’est qu’elle m’a
amené à modifier mon approche de l’évaluation des risques
informatiques, en séparant le cyberespace de son propre
registre. Les implications et les variations vont bien au-delà
d’une simple ligne dans un registre des risques et, à mon
humble avis, devraient être traitées comme un processus
distinct des autres menaces informatiques telles que les
inondations, les incendies, les pannes d’électricité, etc.

Pour clôturer l’après-midi, “Bit’s n Bites” - une séance
de questions-réponses divertissante, semblable à un jeu
télévisé, qui a également permis de tirer quelques bonnes
leçons. Vito Mangialardi, Ralph Dunham et Des O’Callaghan
étaient les vedettes de cette partie des festivités de la
journée, et ce fut une excellente façon d’aborder le long
week-end de Pâques, avec quelques rires et des points de
vue intéressants, bien qu’opposés, sur notre profession.
